- A straight section
- A curved section
The switch can be connected to the following elements of the track.
One section of the running surface of the power and free carriers consists of a moval tongue (16) which routes the carriers to one sbur or to another according to their position. The deviator tongue is appropriately shaped to ensure smooth, shock-free carrier trouble. The tongue is supported by a generously scale pin and rotates on bushings (10) equipped with a grease nipple for lubrication (11).
The tongue is controlled by a torque motor (1) that controls an excentric (9) keyed on the drive shaft and a lever welded to the tongue itself, contact between the excentric and the tongue lever is guaranteed by a bronze bushing (12). Two adjustable levers control the two possible angular positions of the excentric so that the tongue can only be moved under the control of the torque motor. A limit switch on the controlled switch checks that the tongue has executed the requested movement.
Trolley Operated Switch
This is structurally identical to the controlled switch but obviously without the torque motor and the lever connecting the motor and the tongue. Its functioning is completely mechanical. The tongue is moved from one position to the other by the Power and Free trolley contrast wheel when this passes through the switch.
Transfer Unit
It is used to transfer the carriers from a fast to a slow chain, on which the carriers engage' in each pushing dog. It can be regarded as an auxiliary chain with an intermittent movement, which pulls one carrier at a time.
It consists of:
a track (10), in which a trolley (28) runs
a drive head (32) fixed to one end of the track, including a motor, a gear box and a driving pinion
a chain (11) that is wound on the driving pinion and on the return pinion; the chain ends are connected to the trolley body
a take-up head (14) fixed to the other end of the track, bearing the return pinion; its purpose is to adjust chain tension
a trolley sliding on wheels mounted on ball bearings, and a dog hinged on the trolley body; the purpose of the dog is to push the carrier by acting on the leading or on the trailing trolley.
The trolley is also fitted with a cam for limit switch operation and a cam for the opening of the stopping device on the unit 2 limit switches fitted to plates that slide on DIN sections; their purpose is to control the transfer unit travel.
